You've never seen anything like it!

I recently watched Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg and have been haunted by its strange beauty ever since. It is an oddly touching hommage to a lost version of Winnipeg which perhaps never really existed, Guy Maddin's personal vision of his hometown. Watch it for the ballet séances, the otherwordly frozen horse garden, the Citizen Girl I wish I could transplant to so many towns, or simply to hear the song "Wonderful Winnipeg".

  1. that's certainly one of the oddest things I've seen, but I love it.

  2. Hila: I feel the same way, and I think it is exactly where its charm lays.
