Parentheses Vintage etc.

Hi!
I have shared many adventures with this one, but now it's time to part ways :(
I promised myself not to make too much shameless self-promotion on here because, well, I didn't create this blog in line with my little vintage shop, and I can understand why overwhelming it with regular shop updates could be annoying. At the same time, I've been working very hard on the shop, adding in average 5 to 10 new pieces every week, and I've never been so enthusiastic as I am now with the stock I have. Seriously, if my closet were normal-sized, and if I could change my size and shape at will, there wouldn't be much in the shop. The reason why I'm saying all of this is that I'm divided with doing occasional shop updates on here, featuring some of my favourite pieces and talking a little more about them, or not doing them at all, because it would be shameless self-promotion and could feel like empty content compared to the rest of my posts where I'm not, you know selling something. I already have three other platforms to support my bouts of self-advertisement, but at the same time, when I'm really excited about something, I often have an urge to share it here because I feel like this platform allows me to be more genuine and honest.

So - don't be shy - what do you think of this? Would semi-regular shop updates annoy you?

(And in the light of shameless self-promotion, might as well, the code BADPUNS will forever give you 10% off on everything in the shop :)

  1. I don't at all mind the shop updates! It does annoy me a bit when a blog just becomes one big shill for their shop when I used to love their outfit posts/more personal posts, but I really like your shop and I also feel like you're pretty in touch with your own aesthetic and vibe and will stay ~true~ to your blog's spirit? Idk, this all sounds prety hippy dippy but YES and also there are like 15 things in your shop I wanna buy including that amazing pink coat!

    1. That's EXACTLY what was going through my mind, Georgia Rose! I'm glad you find my shop posts are in line with the rest of the blog, the potential difference between the two was what was bothering me. And I LOVE that pink coat, it's so so good!

    1. Great! And yes, that dear jumper is amazing - I found a smaller one with swallows on it that dethroned it after many years of deep love, but I hope to find a good home for it because I still adore it!

    1. Thanks Joy! I miss hanging out with you too!! How did you find Brideshead? I've read quite a bit of Evelyn Waugh, but I still haven't read it, although I saw the two adaptations (the 1980s series is SO GOOD). I'll have to have a look at the Patrick Melrose series, they sound very good! I'm currently drowning under a bunch of 19th century 500 pages novels and 16th century long poems (interesting, but not my cup of tea) and although I'm fairly enjoying my readings, I can't wait to be able to read what I want!! I hope all is well with you too!

  4. not annoying at all. i do shop updates on my blog every week (usually). there is nothing wrong with a little self-promotion. after all, you are running a business, and i find having several platforms to promote your shop to be very helpful in getting your stuff out there. and if your shop updates go with the whole vibe of your blog, then I think nothing is wrong with that!

    1. Thanks Alex! I guess what bothered me is that the blog has been going on for longer than the shop and were two separate entities with different names until recently. I was scared the mix wouldn't be as organic as in your case, where blog and shop go hand in hand :)
